The Bauhaus Movement 1919-1933

Walter Adolph Georg Gropius, father if the Bauhaus born in berlin 1883, Gropius was the founder of the famous School of Bauhaus.
Bauhaus was a school that combined Fine arts and Design opened in1919 and closed in 1928.

Gropius moved on to becoming head teacher of architectural design at Harvard university of design in 1932-1952
The Bauhaus school advocated this marriage between art and design, the students and lectures lived within the school. this school was made in aim to create a new form of design a design that can be mass-produced, they focused on sensibility, simplicity while adapting to the new ear of  machine
Students had specialized workshops including metalwork, sewing, pottery, typography, painting and woodwork
Bauhaus reimaged design by teaching, the honest and true core reasoning of material. the way they represented this was by using materials for their proper purpose, ex if a building's structure was built using a steel frame why waste material to cover, instead they embraced the frame and left the building raw i.e. they left the steel showing.
If one translates Bauhaus from German to English, you will find that 'Bauhaus' means building house. I wouldn't know if it was the guidance of Gropius or if it was the true meaning of Bauhaus but through this movement came beautiful modern architecture.
The architecture of this time brought a new vision, Curtain glass walls and Steel construction, this brought more space to a area making housing more efficient and industrial.
This building is by Le Corbusier

In this picture we see that the architect built the house in such a way were he kept an open air feel, with use of metal as the main structure he used white as the main colour for the building, he used many sheets of glass almost having a complete floor, giving a 180 degrees view of the surroundings. the form of the building is made with basic shapes and forms, all having straight lines.
