Art Nouveau formed itself in the 1880’s contained in Western Europe and United States until after WW1it continued running through late 19th and early 20th centuries, this Movement dominated the decorative and architectural style scene. The artists during this period aimed their works with a modernist perspective using elements of organic shapes and, geometric forms evolving the elegant designs a flow of lines that have unity and angular fillets to corners. This movement influenced architecture, art together with design and interiors. Art nouveau is known for its curved line and “whiplash” curves. They wanted to be free from the past design, Art Nouveau evoked the metaphor of freedom and release
Together with the art Nouveau movement ran the erotic art side to the Nouveau movement, this use of style was mostly found on small scale sculptural works, ink prints and small lamps or intricate pieces.
These line of art was not directed to the middle class but more thought the higher paying customer you would also find they in high end bars and elite clubs.

attention, we see this develop later on during this movement when a the series of

changed to a sexual nature advocating ‘sex sells’
